Expressing his delight over the sales figures, Christian Klinger, Group Member for Sales said, “ We have already delivered more vehicles after eleven months than during the whole of last year. That is an outstanding achievement, particularly in view of the continuing difficult situation on some European markets. Despite this year’s new delivery record we are already preparing for a very challenging year in 2013.” In the European continent, VW Group was able to sell 3.4 million vehicles (+0.7 percent) from January to November this year.

The North American region saw a rise of 26.1 per cent in, up to 757,300 units, of which 534,000 (+33.9 percent) were sold in the United States. The single largest market for VW Group, Russia witnessed an increase of 42.9 per cent over last year, at 2,90,100 units. In India, an increase of 3.3 per cent was seen over last year, with a sales figure of 104.000 vehicles from January to December 2012. It is expected that by the end of the year, VW will truly record spectacular figures, despite Europe being affected by recession.
