Since the festive season is approaching soon, the Indian car market is expected to witness the launch of a number of cars. Considering the plans of Volkswagen, reports are indicating that the German auto manufacturer is all set to introduce a performance oriented model of Vento. The new turbocharged version of Vento will be known as GT TSI and it would come along with entirely different engine specifications as given in standard Vento. According to reports, Vento GT TSI may make inroads in India by early October 2013. As per industry experts, Volkswagen is planning to capitalise on the upcoming festivities with the launch of new models. Reportedly, the company has already introduced 2 new models in last couple of months and now with the launch of Vento GT TSI, the competition is expected to get stiffer.

The upcoming car of Volkswagen shall come equipped with a 1.2-litre engine, which will generate 103 bhp of peak power, similar to the Polo GT TSI hatchback. Besides, the GT variant of Vento will get the dual-clutch automatic transmission system that currently powers the Polo GT TSI. Going by the minute exterior changes provided in the GT models, the upcoming Vento might get GT decals at the rear and side portions, apart from few other modifications. It is expected to get a chrome grill bearing the GT badge. Along with, the company might provide appealing alloy wheels on the Vento GT. At interiors, the car is expected to get premium leather seat upholstery. In terms of safety features, Volkswagen Vento GT TSI might come packed with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), hill hold assist and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).

For price, Vento GT TSI might be around Rs. 50,000 costlier than the current generation Vento 1.6 AT. Industry experts are of a belief that the upcoming car from Volkswagen is unlikely to boost sales as the demand for standard Vento accounted for just 1732 units in August 2013, which is significantly low as compared to the figures of its rivals. Post launched, Vento GT TSI will offer competition to the likes of automatic transmission variants of Renault Scala, Honda City, Hyundai Verna Diesel and Ford Fiesta. Taking in account the dual-clutch transmission system, the closest competitor of Vento GT TSI will be the automatic variant of Fiesta, as both the models are equipped with the same gearbox technology.
