As per a report from MotorOctane, Volkswagen is likely to call their new compact sedan as Ameo. There were earlier reports that Volkswagen could call the compact sedan as Bora. There is no clarity on this aspect, however Volkswagen will be looking at showcasing this new compact sedan at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Volkswagen will be powering the new Ameo with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The TSI with automatic transmission and the diesel automatic, both are likely to be introduced on this new compact sedan.
The new Volkswagen compact sedan (ICS- Indian compact sedan) will be launched sometime in mid-2016. This is the company’s first ever compact sedan that has been made for the Indian car market. This new compact sedan will look a bit different from the regular Polo and Vento will come feature loaded as well.
This sedan might have a wheelbase of that of the Polo. Volkswagen will be manufacturing this new compact sedan in its Chakan plant. This is where even the Polo, Vento and the Rapid are manufactured as well. The new Volkswagen compact sedan will be launched only for the Indian car market.
Volkswagen has been exporting the Polo and Vento to Mexico and other markets. This has helped the company to increase its profits and more efficient utilisation of its Chakan facility, which is another major investment from the German automaker.
