Motorcycle exhaust systems firm Two Brothers Racing has gone ahead to showcase a new carbon-based exhaust for the Yamaha YZF-R1M. This exhaust system has been designed especially for this bike and has several features to suit the model. The new TBR S1R, a slip-on canister, weighs six kilograms less than the unit that is usually fitted in superbike.

Two Brothers Racing, according to reports, has done incredibly well to reduce the weight on the new exhaust unit. In order to facilitate weight reduction, the firm decided to let go of the catalytic converter. Apart from reducing the bike’s weight, this exhaust unit helps in providing better mid-range torque and high-end output of the Yamaha YZF-R1M. The gains for the bike are different as Two Brothers Racing claims an increase of 4.1 BHP at 11,500 RPM and a raise of 3.2 Nm in torque at 5,000 RPM.

In terms of aesthetics, the S1R exhaust system improves the appearance of the Yamaha YZF-R1M by a small magnitude. This system is wrapped in an aerospace-spec carbon fibre that has a high temperature. Along with this, the S1R features aluminium CNC machined outlet and an end-cap made of magnesium coated with Teflon. The only problem that can be caused by this system is that of noise as Two Brothers S1R produces 108.5 dB at 5,000 RPM. Two Brothers S1R has a price of around US $600 (Rs. 37,000 approx.). However, it is yet to enter the Indian market.
