Toyota Motors has stepped up its active and passive safety features in all its cars launched in India. The company has announced that it runs more than 9,000 tests across all its components and a test run of more than 100,000 kms before it finally launches a new model.

Active safety features supplied in the company's cars include features geared to driveability and manoeuvrability of the model along with vehicle stability while driving at high speeds. Toyota is also testing passive safety features like crumple zones or its GOA body that is designed in such a way that it takes maximum shock in case of high impact situations.

Apart from models in India, Toyota is also carrying out extensive safety checks across all its models and brands including Lexus. The recent Lexus features “Smart Stop” technology that enables the vehicle to come a quick yet orderly stop overriding a full-throttle situation. The international Toyota Yaris model also comes with standard Toyota Star Safety System™ including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist.
