      Toyota Posts Robust Sales Growth in India

      Toyota Motor Corp. may be reeling under the pressure for recalls of its vehicles around the world but it remains largely unaffected in the Indian domestic market. The company has posted 100 percent growth as per the latest February sales figures released by SIAM. Toyota marks its presence in the Indian market at Toyota Kirloskar Motors Pvt. Ltd and the company has more than doubled its sales in February as compared to the sales in the same month last year.

      “Our customers continue to repose faith in Toyota, which is reflected in our increasing month-on-month sales figures,” said Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) of Toyota Kirloskar Motors.

      TKM sold 5993 units in February 2010 as compared to 2976 units in the same month last year. It sold 4142 units of Toyota Innova, 863 units of Corolla and 972 units of Fortuner in the Indian market. The total units sold in Jan-Feb period stood as 109 percent growth in the overall sales figures where the company sold 11982 units.

      Toyota has also increased prices of its various models following the budget making its models like Corolla, Innova and Fortuner pricier by Rs. 16,000 – Rs. 30,500 in the Indian market.
