      Toyota Kirloskar Motor limited enters into 10 years agreement with Kamarajar Port Ltd.

      Toyota Kirloskar Motor Limited, the Indian wing of the Japanese automaker has reportedly entered into a 10 year agreement with theKamarajar Port Ltd. (KPL), for exporting cars. The fresh agreement was signed in the presence of Union Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari and Minister of State for Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan in New Delhi, on Tuesday. The company had been using services of Chennai Port Trust, and now shifting the export base would mean decongested roads and easy movement of trailers.

      The current port now has a large car parking yard that can accommodate about 10,000 cars in addition to 2,000 cars parking facility at the berth, said KPL Chairman-cum-Managing Director, M.A. Bhaskarachar. By September, an additional park yard would be ready that can accommodate another 4,000 cars Speaking more on the occasion, he added, “Last year, 1.71 lakh cars were exported through KPL and this year, it would touch 2-lakh mark. Till date, KPL has handled over 7 lakh cars and this shows, we are turning out to be a preferred port for car exports by different auto majors in the country.”
