Mitsubishi, the Japanese automaker, will unveil the new 2016 Outlander facelift at the 2015 New York Auto Show, which is scheduled to commence in early April. Ahead of its public debut next month, the updated Outlander has been spied undisguised. The vehicle was spotted at a port in Japan for shipment. The production-ready Outlander was spotted fully undisguised even though the car has not been officially unveiled.
The spy shots reveal the rear profile of the SUV. It features newly designed tail-lights which have increased in size.Also visible are chrome accents and restyled bumper that accommodates fog lights. There is no clear view of the front, but the SUV is likely to share styling cues with the PHEV Concept-S. Like the rear profile, the front also gets lots of chrome accents. Other exterior changes include new alloy wheels, door handles, headlamps, new grille, etc. Inside the cabin, the SUV is likely to get upgraded infotainment system, dashboard, instrument cluster and new upholstery.
The PHEV version of the Mitsubishi Outlander will get a more refined hybrid system. The current version is powered by a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre gasoline engine with two electric motors and a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery. The current Outlander PHEV has an electric range of 55km, with a maximum range in hybrid mode of up to 880km.
Mitsubishi India is also planning to launch the new Outlander SUV in the Indian car market. If reports are to be believed, the new Outlander petrol will first make its way to our market this year. The diesel version will be launched next year.
