Toyota is working on the facelift versions of two of its popular vehicles, Innova and Fortuner due to launch in 2016. While the launch is slated for 2016, the auto giant is expected to unveil both these vehicles next year. Test mules of Innova have been caught on lens several times in India and Thailand, while Fortuner’s tweaked variant was also snapped being tested in Thailand. Officials at Toyota have confirmed that the company will be investing a staggering amount of 2 billion pesos to increase localisation of next generation Innova. Under the bonnet, the vehicle will get powertrain from Toyota’s new family of engines. The company could possibly offer an automatic variant on a diesel variant. In India, the MPV is expected to be priced between Rs 9 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
Following the launch of Innova, next gen Fortuner will be launched in India. Fortuner is also conceived on the same International Multi-purpose Vehicle platform as underpinned by Innova. As for the tweaked version of the premium SUV, it is expected to get some styling revivification in the front and rear. Among the noticeable changes made to the front fascia an eminent two slat chrome grille is likely to be placed. Ample chrome treatment is expected to be inherited from the current variant. Before introducing next generation Fortuner, Toyota could introduce new variants of the premium SUV during the festive season. A relatively low displacement 2.5 litre diesel engine could be added to the current range. Apart from this an automatic gearbox is also expected to be offered on the range topping 3.0 litre, all-wheel drive version.
