      The domestic sales of Hyundai Motor India up 10.9%

      India’s second largest auto manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has recorded a 10.9% increase in its domestic sales this year. In the month of April 2012, Hyundai recorded domestic sales of 35,070 units while last year it was 31,636 units. The carmaker has registered an aggreate sales of 54,606 units this year whereas last year in the same period it was 52,057 units. In all, this year the aggregate sales of Hyundai is up by 4.9% as compared to previous year.

      The collective sales recorded for April 2012 in A2 segment were 44,891 units, which includes Eon, Santro, i10, and i20. In the same period, A3 Segment registered 9,579 units, which has Accent and Verna while A5 segment recorded 66 units with Sonata. In the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment, the sales of 70 units were recorded with Santa Fe.

      Regarding increase in domestic sales, Arvind Saxena, Director, Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “Consumer confidence continues to be weak, prices went up following the excise hikes in the Union Budget and interest rates are yet to come down. Given the present conditions it’s a challenging market.”

      A wholly owned subsidiary of the popular Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is the largest passenger car exporter in the country. At present, the carmaker sells eight passenger car models. Eon, Santro, i10, and i20 come under the A2 segment while Accent and Verna are the part of A3 segment. In the A5 segment, Hyundai has Sonata and in the SUV segment, it has Santa Fe.

      The manufacturing unit of HMIL near Chennai is highly advanced and developed. The plant has facilities such as advanced production and testing capabilities. HMIL is a major part of HMC’s international export hub and in March 2012, it touched 1.5 million in exports. Presently, HMIL is shipping to around 120 countries across Africa, EU, Latin America, Middle East, and the Asia Pacific.

      HMIL, India’s top exporter for seven consecutive years, in order to meet with the rising demand, commissioned its second producction unit in February 2008. this plant is capable of producing 330,000 units per year. In India, HMIL as of now has 345 dealers and 795 service centres. The automaker has established a latest multi-million dollar R&D plant in Hyderabad so that it could provide its customer with the best of modern and cosmic technology. The main aim of this R&D centre is to achieve excellence in the field of automobile engineering.
