      As anticipated by Tata Motors, the new Zest sedan is attracting good response from the Indian buyer segment. A total of about 25,000 inquires for Tata Zest have poured in, whereas the official booking figures have not been revealed by the company yet. The Petrol version of Tata Zest is available in XE, XM, XMS and XT variants at a starting price tag of about 4.64 Lakhs, whereas the diesel variant is available in XE, XM, XMA, XMS and XT trims and starts at an attractive price tag of about Rs. 5.64 lakhs. Both prices are ex-showroom Delhi based.

      The manual variant of Tata Zest is reportedly on a waiting period of about 1.5 – 2.0 months. Interestingly, the diesel AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) variant has gone on a waiting period of about three months, probably due to high demand. The petrol version is powered by newly developed 1.2 litre i-VTEC Revotron engine that generates top power and torque output of 88.8 Bhp and 140 Nm respectively. A five speed manual gearbox is mated to the petrol engine. The 1.3 Liter diesel motor is available in two states of tune - 74 Bhp and 88.8 Bhp. The 74 Bhp version generates top torque of 190 Nm while the 88.8 Bhp version develops top torque of 200 Nm. Basic diesel variant is housed with the 74 Bhp diesel motor while rest of the variants get 88.8 Bhp version. The diesel version gets both manual and automated manual transmission.

      The AMT feature in the new Tata Zest is available in City, Eco and Sport driving modes. Tata Zest has been launched in the country in interesting shades of Platinum Silver, Buzz Blue, Pristine White, Sky Grey, Venetian Red and Dune Beige. As for safety the car gets clutch lock, 3-point seat belt at front, rear outer 3-point belt speed sensing auto door lock, day and night rear view mirror, rear parking assist with display on infotainment screen, fog lamps, cornering stability control, and centre lap belt.

      Tata Motors initiated an interesting campaign with Times of India, wherein readers received a sample key encouraging them to go ahead for Zest's test drive. Each key came with a bar-code that shall be associated with personal details that shall be saved by Tata personnels post test drive. These details would be used to announce the lucky winner of the the campaign organized by Tata Motors.
