      Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Limited Edition launched in Japan

      Toyota has thought of an innovative way to treat true Land Cruiser fans based in Japan. Toyota has just launched the Land Cruiser 70 that carries the vintage charm of Land Cruiser that made debut around 30 years ago after which production was stopped in the year 2004. The new model had been tagged as one of the most toughest of the Land Cruiser models to be produced. The new Toyota Land Cruiser 70 has been launched at a price tag of 3.6 million yen ($35,000).

      Speaking more about the rugged SUV, Sadayoshi Koyari, Toyota's Chief engineer said, “If you ever have to entrust your life with a car, I'd choose the Land Cruiser.” Part-time four-wheel-drive system with dual-mode automatic locking hubs technology in the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 is powered by 4.0-liter 1GR-FE V-6 engine that generates about 228 hp of power with 265 lb-ft of torque. Toyota has also included an electric locking differential for the front and rear axles.

      The new Land Cruiser 70 from Toyota shall only be on sale for about a year and only about 200 units shall be produced every month. The 70 model launched in 1984 is still selling well in markets like Australia, Middle East and Africa with an average sales number of about 6,400 vehicles a month. The ladder-frame chassis and suspension has been designed to handle and perform in the toughest and most challenging situations.
