With bookings now open for Zest CS on Tata’s official web site speculations have started surrounding on vehicle’s launch in India. It is expected that Tata Motors could barge in new Zest compact sedan in India next month. Compact sedan segment in India is thriving with a fast pace, many new entrants have joined the band wagon and several other cars will soon be introduced in this segment. Besides being a pioneer in CS segment, Tata Motors could never carve a niche for itself in compact sedan division. Indigo eCS was the first official compact sedan to be rolled out in India, however it never got its due. With the launch of updated Swift Dzire in India this segment was brought to limelight. Dzire indubitably emerged a winner in CS segment, though other sedans are also doing considerably well but Dzire has been able to build a vast market on the back of Maruti’s strong customer base and widely spread dealer network.
Auto experts on the other hand are of the opinion that Tata’s upcoming Zest has the potential to attenuate sales of Dzire. Reasons that support this theory are availability of segment first features, increased wheelbase and taller stance make it a better offering. Backing this believe further is the thick network of Tata Motors scattered across the country, moreover the company has worked on the training and recruitment of new personnel around its dealership network specifically before the launch of new Zest CS and Bolt hatchback.
Zest has been designed in tandem with Tata Motors’ ‘DESIGNEXT’ design philosophy, hence it is the most contemporary looking vehicle offered by the company till date. Petrol range will be powered by the newly designed 1.2 litre Revotron engine, while the automated manual transmission will be paired with the diesel trim that makes it the first diesel power sedan to come equipped with an AMT gearbox. Pricing remains the deciding factor for the success of Zest, it is being believed that the vehicle will come aggressively priced.
