Tata Motors is planning to enter the used car market in India on a larger scale. Last year, Tata Motors launched its pre-owned cars company Tata Motors Assured to make a foray in the segment. As the company gets serious about its venture, it lays plans to enter the segment in an organised manner.

“The organised pre-owned car segment will continue to grow with the quest of the customers seeking better services. For the month of June 2010, this segment accounted for almost eight per cent of our revenues,” Tata Motors senior vice-president (commercial passenger car business unit) S Krishnan said. Pre-owned cars business already has some major players like Maruti True Value, Mahindra First Choice, Chevrolet OK, and Mercedes Proven Exclusivity which have tried to organize the pre-owned car segment and offer varied choices of cars that are certified by auto manufacturers themselves.

Tata Motors is also planning to invest nearly Rs. 10,000 crores to develop its manufacturing and product development facility in India. Tata Motors said it has plans for expanding product range and increasing presence in the domestic and global markets in both commercial and passenger vehicle segments.
