      Tata Motors Group registers global wholesales of 114,920 in the month of December

      Tata Motors Group, the largest automobile company in India, registered global wholesales of 114,920 units in the month of December 2011. These wholesales figures, which mark an increase of 27% over last year, include sales numbers of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) as well. For the fiscal, the cumulative sales were 865,400 units, which is 12% more than the sales registered in 2010-11.

      53,854 commercial models, comprising Tata, Tata Daewoo and Tata Hispano Carrocera range, were sold in December 2011, which is 12% higher. Marking a growth of 17%, the cumulative sales were 425,264 units for the fiscal. For the passenger segment, the global sales in December were 61,066 units, which accounts for increase of 45%. Furthermore, the cumulative sales were around 440,136 units for the fiscal, which is 8% higher than previous year.

      The sum of global sales of passenger vehicles of Tata and distribution offtake of cars of Fiat in India was 30,085. As compared to the sales figures of December 2010, these numbers are 45% higher. However, the cumulative sales were 3% lower for this fiscal, equivalent to 223,724 units.

      Registering 45% increase in sales, the global sales for JLR were 30,981 units in December 2011. Independently for Jaguar, the sales figures were 4,726 units and for Land Rover were 26,255 units, which respectively mark growth of 9% and 54%. Registering 22% hike, the cumulative sales for JLR were 216,412 units, including 39,921 Jaguar units and 176,491 Land Rover units. With respect to the cumulative sales, Jaguar marked 7% reduction in sales, whereas Land Rover registered 31% increase over the previous year.

      For the fiscal 2010-11, Tata Motors registered consolidated revenue worth Rs. 1,23,133 crores ($27 billion). The company offers cars, buses and trucks across Europe, Africa, Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and South America. It marks its presence in several countries, including UK, South Korea, Thailand, Spain and South Africa, with the help of many subsidiaries and associate companies. One of its world renowned subsidiaries is Jaguar Land Rover, which comprises two British brands, namely Jaguar and Land Rover.

      Tata is also engaged in distributing Fiat cars in the country, with which it has an industrial joint venture. The undisputed leader in commercial segment in India and among the top three suppliers of passenger vehicles, Tata Motors has sold around 6.5 million units in India. Talking of its global presence, it is the fourth largest truck manufacturer in the world. In addition, it is also the third largest producer of buses in the world.
