      Tata Motors associates with DRB-HICOM for supply of trucks to Malaysian military forces

      One of the leading auto manufacturers in Asia, Tata Motors has joined hands with the Malaysia based leading automotive corporations, DRB-HICOM Berhad for the supply of high performance trucks to the defense forces of Malaysia. DRB- HICOM Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (DEFTECH), a unit of the DRB-HICOM Berhad has signed a deed with Tata Motors for developing, producing and marketing the trucks manufactured for its target segment.

      As per the signed cooperation agreement, the high mobility 4x4 trucks manufactured by Tata Motors that can hold up to 2.5 tonnes to 5.0 tonnes of weight will be further developed to cater the requirement of the armed forces. The work will commence firstly upon the two Tata Motors trucks, LPTA 715 and LPTA 1623.

      A spokesman for Tata Motors commented at a press release, "These vehicles are suitable in various configurations, including troop carriers, command post, ambulance, reconnaissance missions as an armoured carrier communication shelter and others."

      Since 1958, the Indian automaker has been undertaking various trucks supply projects and has supplied over one lakhs vehicles to the Indian military and defence forces marking its long years of association with the country’s armed forces. The automaker has proved its caliber with extending its supply of the defence specific vehicles to the countries situated in the South Asian, South East Asian and African regions with the vehicles being adapted to suit the requirements of the country’s defence mechanism.
