      Tata launches new intercity luxury bus Divo in India

      Tata Motors, the largest vehicle maker in the Indian market, has launched a new range of luxury city buses in the country on Wednesday. With the launch of new Divo range of luxury busses, the company has joined the league of intercity factory-built bus makers like Volvo and Mercedes Benz that are already offering this segment of busses in India. The Tata Divo is offered in the price segment of Rs 66 lakh ((BS III, ex-showroom Thane). The bus is designed by Tata Motor’s Spanish subsidiary Hispano Carrocera.

      With this, the company has also launched an intercity commuter bus Starbus Ultra with a starting price tag of Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom Thane).

      Speaking to the reporters on the launching ceremony of the car on Wednesday, Mr. Ravi Pisharody, president for commercial vehicles business unit at Tata Motors, said, "With the launch of Divo, we have entered into the high-end luxury inter-city bus coach segment. Earlier, we were selling only chassis, but these will come as fully factory-built body."

      The company is aiming to sell around 150 units of new Divo range of luxury busses in the country per annum, in the total market for this segment of busses of 250 units per annum.
