Tata is planning to bring its luxury models, Jaguar and Land Rover to India. It is working on an aggressive expansion plan to bring its Land Rover in India next year. Land Rover is already present in Mumbai in a small way and now Tata Motors is looking at launching the luxury model all over India.

According to Rajiv Dube, Tata Motors President for Passenger Cars, Jaguar Land Rover is planning to expand its footprints in India in a fairly aggressive manner in near future. This could happen in the next year. Land Rover had recently opened a new dealership in Gurgaon near Delhi but it is not a part of its pan-India expansion strategy. A team from JLR is expected in India to study the Indian market and its prospects for the company. Since both the brands are high priced models, Tata Motors is not looking at numbers, says Tata Motors Director, Ravi Kant.

Tata acquired Land Rover and Jaguar from Ford earlier this year in an all-cash deal worth $2.3 billion. The company planned to raise Rs. 7200 crore in the capital market to fund the acquisition. On the other hand, the changing economic scenario around the world has resulted in drop in sales for Land Rover and Jaguar. The British media reported that Tata has cut down its production for utility vehicles and redeployed about 300 workers.
