The Tata Kite’s rendering has been made and as it had spotted, the car looks similar. The Tata Kite will come in the form of hatchback and compact sedan, as the hatchback is due to be launched by the end of this year. While, the Kite compact sedan will be coming next year. Tata will be launching the Kite with a set of new engines. The petrol will be the 1.2-litre and the diesel shall be a 1.05-litre that will be producing about 63bhp of power and will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The Tata Kite is based on Tata’s Indica eV2 and Indigo eCS platform, however multiple changes have been made to the duo. The interiors have been designed from scratch and the Kite has a stylish design. The Kite gets interior features like in-dash music system, bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable mirrors, dual airbags and ABS. The petrol version will also get multi-drive modes like the Tata Bolt and the Zest.
The strongest point of the Kite diesel will be its mileage and the Kite will be getting several features and interior styling aspects from the Bolt. The Tata Kite will be competing with the Hyundai i10, the Chevrolet Beat and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. Tata will be pricing the Kite at Rs 3.7 lakhs to 5.5 lakhs (ex-showroom price). Tata will continue selling the Indica eV2 mostly for commercial use and for tier II and III cities. This will be sold until the 2017 crash test norms are implied.
