Tata Technologies Limited, a company in one of the largest multinational empires in India, the Tata Group, has showcased the concept version of its new electric car at the ongoing Detroit Auto Show. The specimen of this electric car, eMO, which stands for Electric Mobility, is a four seater passenger car and estimated to be priced at $20000.

Mr. Warren Harris, President, Tata Technologies, quoted that, "The eMO project symbolizes the coming of age of Indian automotive engineering. The research and development process involved in the eMO project enabled Tata Technologies to acquire 15 patents with the efforts of over 300 engineers and designed the car with smooth textured aerodynamic surfaces and utilized environment friendly materials bypassing the conventional body shop and paint process. The intense understanding of frugal engineering has enabled it in reducing the cost of the car.

Tata eMO consists of only two doors, called as suicidal doors, for the passengers to get in and out. This means that the car does not have rear door or a dedicated trunk. In fact, the rear seats can be folded to create enough space for luggage. In addition, the electronic stability control is paired with antilock in the form of front disc and rear drum brakes for swift driving experience.

The car’s powertrain is powered with dual motor, liquid cooled offering four wheel drive system with a power packed battery (18.4 kilowatt) delivering a peak range of 100 miles at a top speed of 65 miles per hour.

The electric car is styled for easy mobility at urban areas providing convenience in parking and easily accommodating four passengers due to spacious interiors. This cost effective electric vehicle concept claims to deliver high on road performance along with tough rivalry to its competitors.
