Ford Synch system boasts of installed applications and a highly interactive user interface, which has been developed by Ford in collaboration with third-party developers. It makes use of the Windows Embedded Automotive operating system that has been designed by Microsoft. Incidentally, Ford first announced the release of its advanced SYNC technology at the Detroit International Auto Show in January 2007.
The unique Ford Synch Technology allows drivers to enjoy a hassle free usage of Bluetooth enabled phones and digital media players by simple voice commands. Further development to this Synch technology see vocalisation of text messages received by drivers. Interestingly, SYNC's text message function can also interpret about one hundred shorthand messages such as 'LOL'.
Best of Ford Synch technology is realised with its mobile integration capabilities that give full control on wireless transfers of contacts stored in phone to the on-board phone book. It also allows to be benefited by other calling features like caller ID, conference calling, call log, list of contacts, signal strength icon, call waiting and a phone battery charge icon. The users' message are automatically converted to audio and delivered by the in-built speaker system. The Ford Synch technology, which has been incorporated in EcoSport, gives huge flexibility to drivers as they can easily make phone calls without actually taking their hands off the steering wheel. Bluetooth phones can be used to sync with this system. Also, an MP3 player can be easily managed with voice commands, using an option to stream music from even a USB device. This technology can also make automatic emergency calls through the paired phone and even display the GPS location.
