Maruti Suzuki has managed to sell a million units of their beloved swift Dzire since its launch in 2008. The entry level sedan has been trumping its rivals in terms of mileage and reliability in its every avatar. When it first arrived on Indian shores, it looked like nothing more than Swift combing with a bulky boot. But, its latest avatar looks like a whole new car with a more subtle boot and distinct front design.
With this, the car is now the 5th car in the all time list of units sold in the country. The other four are also Maruti Suzuki cars as the company has managed to sell 2.83 million units of Alto, 2.67 million units of Maruti 800, 1.68 million units of Maruti Van and same number of units for WagonR. The company is the leading manufacturer in the country because of its after sales services and also because of the longevity and refinement of its cars along with the availability of spare parts.
Currently, the Swift Dzire is sold in one petrol and diesel option apart from having numerous variants for each fuel option. The K-Series petrol version is a 1.2 litre engine produces 83 bhp and 115 Nm of torque while DDiS diesel engine has 1.25 litre heart which gives out 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. Both engine options are extremely fuel efficient and have managed to return figures of 20.85 kmpl and 26.59 kmpl respectively for petrol and diesel option in ARAI test conditions.
The company has launched their campaign “The sweets are on us” in which the company plans to provide edible sweets to every Dzire customer through mail. It will also set up stall in numerous malls around the country which will have edible art installations. Let’s assume that most of that art will be related to the car.
