Suzuki, the Japanese automaker, is ready to start working on its next global project. It is planning to launch a new B-segment hatchback, which will be placed above the Maruti Swift hatchback model. Spy shots were revealed of this new model being tested in Europe last week. The model has been internally codenamed YRA by the renowned brand. This car shall be the first launch since the launch of its aggressive plan of launching a new car by each year-end till the end of this decade.

The highly camouflaged Suzuki YRA hatchback version is a bit longer and also a bit taller than the Swift. However, it just tucks in under the S-cross when it comes to dimensions. The spy shots showed that the car was heavily covered with black vinyl so the design is still much under speculation. It is expected that the car will sport an aerodynamic exterior. Apart from this, the huge rear door indicated that the seat legroom and the boot capacity are also large; this is not like the Swift. To tender to the international markets, a 3-door version can be launched some time down the line.

The front bumper gave a sneak peek to the intercooler turbo, which is a hint that the car will come with an intercooler turbo petrol or diesel variant. Suzuki will launch a new engine with a new 1.0 litre K10C petrol and Direct Injection TurboCharger technology (DiCT) that will power this new model. This is expected to produce more than 90 bhp of power as well as better fuel economy. On the other hand, it will also have a lesser CO2 emission due to the presence of a smaller motor.

The new engine will join the same likes from the Ford and Volkswagen make and is expected to be a hit in the market. The diesel engine will be from one of the indigenous makes of Suzuki and is still under manufacturing process. Knowing the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki has kept the dimensions of this car below the 4-metre mark. Though this car might face stiff competition in the market, it is expected that the car will be able to impress its customers.
