Unveiled as a concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the Suzuki iM-4 mini SUV has been spotted testing for the first time in Germany. The company claims that the iM-4 has SUV DNA with a combination of latest technology, innovativeness and uniqueness. This mini SUV is rumored to be named the ‘Suzuki Ignis’. Though, there is no clarity about the company’s plans of launching it in India.
The latest spy images suggest that the production-ready iM-4 will share resemblance with the concept. Though, features like revised mirrors, conventional headlight units and smaller alloy wheels mark difference. It will also feature pull-style door handles, blacked out A and B pillars and conventional turn indicators. Based on Suzuki’s new-generation platform, the iM-4 will be lighter yet stiffer than most of the existing Suzuki cars.
For global market, the Suzuki iM-4 will be offered with two petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged Boosterjet and a 1.2-litre Dualijet petrol with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild hybrid system. While the former offers a maximum power of 110bhp at 5,500rpm and 170Nm of torque between 2,000rpm – 3,500rpm, the latter one is good for 88bhp and 120Nm of torque. The Dualjet gasoline unit with ISG (Idle Stop & Go) system offers 3.08bhp and 50Nm. Both front-wheel drive (standard) and all-wheel drive (optional) will also be on offer.
To be positioned below the iV-4, the Suzuki iM-4 will enter production by the end of the next year. If it comes to India, the mini SUV could be priced between Rs. 4 lakh – Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
