Indian car-maker Tata Motors has finally launched the face-lifted version of the Aria SUV for the Indian market. The sales for Aria never really kicked off the last time it was launched, but with a fresh face-lift, the powerful SUV is set to make its presence felt. The latest third generation of Ssangyong Rexton has made it to India through collaborative efforts with the Mahindra brand. The SUV has received quite a lot of technical upgrades since it early inception days.
The Ssangyong Mahindra Rexton is available in two variants – RX5 and RX7. The RX5 is powered by 2696cc, five cylinder diesel RX270 XDi engine that generates about 162 Bhp of power with 340Nm of torque. The RX7 is powered by 2696cc, five cylinder diesel RX270 XVT engine that generates about 184 Bhp of power with 402Nm of torque. The RX5 is mated to five speed manual transmission and comes with torque on demand drive-train, whereas the RX7 is mated to five speed electronic transmission and comes with an all wheel drive-train. The interiors are super spacious and carry a sense of elegance and luxury. The exteriors look sporty and give out a masculine appeal. The 'Eagle eye' shaped projector headlamps provide with ample illumination under various circumstances. The stylish bumper features well designed fog lamps that also compliment the chrome accented grill. Moreover, the SUV has received chrome side moldings that protect the car against scratches deliberately made by bystanders. The manual transmission variant of RX5 is priced at Rs. 18,87,337 and the automatic variant of RX7 is priced at Rs. 21,10,913. Both the prices are Ex-showroom Delhi.
The new Aria is being offered in three variants - PURE LX, PLEASURE and PRIDE 4 x 4. The Aria SUV is powered by 2.2 litre VARICOR engine that generates a maximum power output of about 150 PS with torque figures of up to 320 Nm. The powerful engine is impressive with fuel figures and returns an impressive mileage of about 15.05 kmpl as per ARAI figures. In the interior the SUV gets new leather seats with beige upholstery, thereby rendering an upmarket feel to the fresh launch. The driver's seat is height adjustable and the steering is tilt adjustable. Comfort for the passenger is ensured with dual AC featuring Automatic Climate Control option and roof-mounted AC vents. The Indian car-maker has also given due importance to the safety factor by incubating features like ABS with EBD, ESP, Perimetric Alarm System, front passenger seat, driver‘s seat, side airbags and curtain airbags. The new Aria is Aria is launched in the domestic market at an interesting price tag of Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
