The Tata Nano, which was launched in 2009, was a brave attempt by the Indian car maker to make a car for masses without making them shell a lot for conventional offerings. Throughout its tenure, the Nano saw ups and downs. The company kept updating it with features and options to make it more acceptable in the Indian market. However, as reported by TeamBHP, Tata Motors will only be selling the GenX and eMax variants and have stopped manufacturing of other variants.

Seen as a rival to cars like the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon, the Nano is the only car to have an AMT – automated manual transmission giving it a huge edge over its rivals. In its last update, Tata Motors worked on the interiors to make it more premium than before and also added a convenient operational tail gate which freed up 94L of boot space with the parcel tray. Even the AC unit was worked upon to make it more efficient and also help it cool the cabin 15% than other cars.

The most premium variant gets an integrated AmphiStream music system with 4 speakers and USB, Aux-In and Bluetooth connectivity. It also features 12V power socket useful for laptop and mobile charging. In terms of power train, the GenX Nano makes use of a two-cylinder 624cc engine that makes 37 Bhp of power and 51 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and also comes with an optional 5-Speed AMT unit, the only one its class to offer one.

A strong demand of the AMT variants has compelled Tata Motors to offer the Nano only in GenX  and eMax variants. The Nano eMax too is in popular demand. It doesn’t get the fancy additions over the stock like the GenX and comes with a 624cc 4 Stroke, water-cooled, multipoint injection system. On CNG, this unit makes 32 bhp and 45 Nm of torque whereas in petrol mode, it generates 37 Bhp and 51 Nm of torque. It comes with a standard 4-speed manual transmission only.
