Skoda Superb to be launched in a new base variant called Ambition

Volkswagen Group owned Czech automaker, Skoda will be launching in its Indian portfolio, a new base variant of its flagship model Superb on 18th April. The luxury sedan will be introduced in a new cost economic variant called Ambition that will be positioned to intensify the competition with the rivals, Volkswagen Jetta, Honda Accord and Maruti Suzuki Kizashi.

 

On the exterior front, the new base variant Superb Ambition retains the upbeat front proximity sensors, headlamp washers and projector headlamps offered with the top-end Elegance variant. The interiors, however, witnesses the deletion of Electric sunroof and touch screen centre console and embodies a single CD MP3 player in place of six CD changer MP3 player offered with Superb Elegance.

Superb Ambition will be available in two engine options- 1.8L turbocharged petrol engine coupled with six-speed manual gearbox to deliver a peak power of 160PS and 250Nm of peak torque and 2.0L turbo diesel engine working with the six-speed DSG automatic gearbox to outpour a top output of 140PS and a top torque of 320Nm.

The new base variant also endows all the safety attributes offered with the high end variant such as the ABS, EBD, eight airbags, ASR (Anti-Slip regulation), ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and TCS (Traction Control system).

With this new variant to be launched by Skoda, emphasis is on offering convenience, efficiency and luxury of Superb at a cost lesser by Rs. 1.5 to Rs. 1.8 Lakhs as compared to the price commanded by Superb Elegance. The petrol version of Ambition will be tagged at a price of Rs. 18 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) while diesel version will be priced at Rs 22.5 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
