Months ahead of new Skoda Fabia’s unveiling at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October, Skoda has officially released design sketches of the vehicle. The hatchback is primarily aimed at overseas markets like Europe, India launch is yet not certain. Skoda will launch the hatchback in preeminent global markets by 2015. It has been learnt that the company is planning an online unveil of the third generation Fabia prior to its public exhibition in October in Paris.

Sources have revealed that third generation of Fabia will be based on the modified PQ25 platform, scrapping the speculations of underpinning VW’s modular MQB platform. Rationally, use of PQ25 platform will save Skoda on the cost of the vehicle. The released image implies that design cues have been borrowed from Rapid sedan and Octavia saloon. It is being believed that the hatchback will come incorporated with some segment first features, though currently there are no details on that. Along with petrol engine options, the company could also consider diesel variants for specific markets. Despite being sub-four meters in length, Fabia is a capacious offering in hatchback segment. Skoda had inducted Fabia in India in 2008, but owing to its high price, the hatchback could not sustain and company gradually had to discontinue sale of hatchback. Therefore, chances of 2015 Fabia coming to India seem bleak; however the final word is not out yet.
