Continuous his blistering form, German driver Sebastian Vettel claimed victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on the 3rd of November. The Red Bull Racing driver, who became World Champion for the fourth time by winning 2013 Indian Grand Prix, outclassed his opponents and stormed to his 11th victory of the season. Notably, Vettel equalled legend and his idol Michael Schumacher's record for seven consecutive victories. Now, the German Sebastian Vettel storms to seventh successive win at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

has a chance to become only the second driver in history to notch up nine wins, if he can claim victory at the remaining two races. Till now, the only driver to win nine consecutive races is Italian legend and two time World Champion Alberto Ascari. Not only this, if the German wins the remaining races, he also has a chance of equalling Schumacher's record for most victories in a season (13).

Unlike the Indian Grand Prix, Vettel did not hold pole position at 2013 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which went to his team mate, Australian racer Mark Webber. Vettel finished his race in a time of 1:38:06.106 with an average speed of 186.758 mph. He was 30 seconds clear of team mate Webber, who finished second, clocking average speed of 185.785 mph. Third place at this race was achieved by Nico Rosberg while fourth was Lotus' Romain Grosjean and fifth position was claimed by Ferrari's Spaniard Fernando Alonso. Mark Webber, speaking after the race, was disappointed with his start, saying that starts of Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel were amazing. Talking about his parents' presence, he said, “It’s very special to me that they were here this weekend. I think I learnt a lot of good things from them and one day, if I have kids, I want to pass exactly these things on.”

Vettel was really happy with his performance at the race and he celebrated in style by performing doughnuts for the crowd. Notably, Vettel was fined for doing the same at 2013 Indian Grand Prix, something that did not bother him much. He was also really happy about the fact that his parents were able to attend the race and see their son claiming victory. “Technically today I don’t think I broke any rules because I brought the car home this time and will hopefully be able to provide a fuel sample. Last week I left the car parked in the middle of the track which, from what I remember, was the main issue,” he said.

Meanwhile, there was a bit of controversy surrounding Fernando Alonso's passing of Jean-Eric Vergne, Toro Rosso's driver. It is being said that Alonso was lucky to not get a penalty for this. Alonso had a torrid time at 2013 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as he started on 22nd position after the Spaniard's car failed to clear the front floor deflection test in qualifying. Speaking about the incident, Alonso was quoted as saying, "I was going out of the pits. I was alongside the Toro Rosso and I didn't have the space for both of us to go on the track so at that point either you are invisible or you are forced to be out of the track.”
