Royal Enfield made a statement recently at the Bonneville Salt Flats, where it has broken an international record on land speed. Bonneville Salt Flats are located in the County of Tooele in the north western region of Utah, which is situated in the United States of America. It is renowned for playing host to globally famous events like the World of Speed, the Speed Week and the World Finals. These events test the potential of cars, automobiles and other motorbikes. The Royal Enfield Continental GT was modified by the ace performance parts manufacturer and tuner, Matt Capri. The bike broke the record in the category of Push-rod Partially Streamlined. The unofficial speed, which it clocked, was of 156.3 kilometres per hour. The previous record in the same category was at 151 kilometres per hour.

It was saddled by ace rider, Nadine de Freitas, who also has a doctoral degree in physical therapy. The Continental GT was heavily modified because of this event. Cam shafts, piston and exhaust system, cylinder heads and throttle bodies were used in abundance. The modified bike coughed up a power output of approximately 60 PS, which is double when compared to the standard bike. With increased compression ratio and a streamlined aerodynamic structure, it was expected that the model would do quite well when it came to high speeds.
