Renault India Private Limited (RIPL), a subsidiary of French multinational automobile manufacturer Renault S.A., has revealed intentions to introduce its Dacia Lodgy Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) in the country in the next few years. Dacia is a Romanian automotive manufacturer and is Renault's subdivision famous for producing low cost models. The French auto major has already witnessed great success with its Dacia made Duster compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) on Indian turf, and would certainly be hoping that Lodgy receives similar popularity from domestic buyers. Further, just like Duster upcoming Lodgy will be launched under Renault's brand name in the domestic market.

The yet-to-be launched Dacia Lodgy is anticipated to be holding the famed Renault K9K diesel engine under its hood, which could also be found in the company's Duster compact SUV. The brilliant K9K diesel motor is famous for its incredible power and torque performance along with its best-in-class reliability and low maintenance needs. The Lodgy MPV is expected to come trimmed with a 1.5 litre K9K power-mill, churning out a peak power output around 110 bhp that the domestic audience is so familiar with.

Upon its entry in Indian auto market, the Renault Lodgy will get involved in an intense face off against the likes of fellow MPVs Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova, Nissan Evalia and Mahindra Xylo. The upcoming Lodgy model from stables of the French auto major is believed to be launched with an introductory price tag close to Rs. 8 lakhs. However, many things could happen in the domestic auto market till then, but developments concerning the Renault model will definitely be followed closely by Indian audience.

The grapevine is abuzz with speculations regarding Lodgy being introduced with the 110 bhp Duster's K9K engine. Top industry experts believe that installing a common motor in all its models, helps RIPL in achieving its cost cutting targets and enforcing speedy assembling operations. Hence, having a common K9K engine under their hoods entail Renault models to be priced aggressively in the country. Further, if the cars offer great performance along with superior fuel efficiency, there is no real reason for domestic car aficionados not being happy with the French auto giant's one engine strategy.
