Renault, the French auto maker, has officially showcased the pickup version of its much acclaimed Duster model, however it’s not put for sale. Interestingly, few months ago, Dacia Duster was also spotted as a pickup, which left the global auto enthusiasts enthralled. Sources close to the development process revealed that the Dacia Duster Pickup will be initially launched in the global auto market as it has officially showcased its product. On the other hand, the launch of Renault Duster Pickup is not sure, as of now, as there are no strong facts revolving around the rumor mill.

Dacia Duster is designed for OMV Petrom, which happens to be the largest oil and gas company in Romania. This model is based on the standard Duster 4×4 variant, which comes equipped with a 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine, churning out a maximum power of 110 PS. The designing of this model is also kept the same, while the inner cabin is reduced to just two front seats. At the rear portion, the second row and boot space are converted in a 1700 mm long flatbed, which can hold up to 450 kg weight.

Reportedly, the auto maker started working on this project in 2012 and this pickup version is validated by Romanian Auto Registry (RAR) and Renault Group. It must be noted that only 500 units of the Duster will be produced for OMV Petrom, while first lot of 10 units has been already delivered to the company. The remaining units will also be handed over to the company in a phased manner before 2015-end.
