Renault-Nissan has reportedly been working on bringing about a major innovation by providing a common platform for both petrol and diesel engine powered vehicles. The innovation is reportedly in the advanced stage and would help the company escape from risk between buyers deciding for petrol or diesel fueled vehicles. This would also help the company save costs in the long run.
Speaking more on the occasion Nissan Motor India spokesman said, “Globally, Nissan is known for its innovations in engineering and technology. Our biggest strength is our ability to democratize automobile technology, so that customers can afford Nissan's smartly engineered products. We will continue to democratize automobile technology to help our Indian customers enjoy the benefits.”
Sources have stated that engineering and development of a smaller 1-litre modular engine platform has been outsourced to Hinduja Technologies. The flexible engine platform helps the company build petrol and diesel engines with 40-50% common parts.
