As a pleasant surprise in the Indian SUV segment, General Motors has launched the updated version of the Chevrolet Captiva SUV. The carmaker has launched the vehicle in both 4x2 in manual and 4x4 trim in automatic option. The new Captiva has been launched at a price tag ranging between Rs. 25. 13 lakh and Rs. 27.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Speaking more about the vehicle Arvind Saxena, president and MD, General Motors India, said, “The launch of the all-new model year 2015 Captiva is in line with our business plan of capturing the all-important SUV market and growing our market share. The Captiva has been warmly welcomed in markets around the world due to its combination of distinctive styling, refinement, best-in-class safety, comfort and versatility and powerful yet frugal diesel powertrain. In India, it has created a niche for itself in the premium SUV segment.”
The vehicle continues to be powered by 2.2-litre diesel engine that is capable of generating about 187 bhp of power at 3,800rpm with a peak torque output of about 400 Nm at 2000 rpm. The engine is avialable in manual as well as automatic variant. As part of fresh upgrades, the vehicle gets new instrument cluster, third row heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, rain sensing wipers, sunroof and jet-black interiors with leather upholstery. As for the exterior, the vehicle gets minor tweaks in form of signature Chevrolet grille and an attarctive Chevrolet bowtie. The 17-inch alloy wheels sport flared wheel arches. Moreover, the vehicle also gets a new Cluster Ionizer that generates ions that shall purify and deodorize cabin interiors.
