      Renault Lodgy MPV put on test, launch by early 2015

      Expected to be launched early next year, Renault’s upcoming offering, Lodgy MPV has been put on test in India. The MPV has been spied couple of time undergoing test runs in the country that reinforces the fact that Renault has begun testing the India-bound model. Already on sale in other international markets, the MPV was first unveiled at the Ukrainian auto show held in 2013. In India, the vehicle will be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan production unit located in Oragadam in Chennai.

      From the information gathered so far on the MPV, it is expected that Lodgy will don a boxy semblance. Tail lights have been positioned a tad high than usual, other minor changes will also be seen in the front and rear profile. A redesigned grille is expected to be incorporated in front, ample chrome treatment could also be given to the MPV. In its segment, the seven seater MPV will rival the likes of Maruti Ertiga and Honda Mobilio and is likely to be relatively bigger in size than its competitors.Under the hood could be the same 1.5 litre diesel powertrain that powers Duster SUV. The engine is expected to be offered in two states of tune- 85 PS and 105 PS. Petrol variants on the other hand could get a 1.6 litre engine. Both petrol and diesel engines will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. A six-speed manual transmission will be matched to the 105 PS diesel engine. On the price front, Renault is likely to tag is aggressively, a hypothetical price ranging between Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh is being speculated for the
