Renault has begun the dispatch process of the much-awaited Kwid to its dealerships just ahead of its launch. In fact, dealers have started accepting booking orders for the vehicle from today itself. The Renault Kwid will be made available in four trim levels – Std, RxE, RxL and RxT – all of which are powered by an all-new 799cc, three-cylinder petrol engine. This powertrain is capable to deliver a maximum power of 53bhp at 5,678rpm and 72Nm of torque at 4,386rpm. Renault claims that the Kwid returns a class-leading fuel efficiency of 25.17km/l. Transmission option on offer is a five-speed manual.

The Renault Kwid is the company’s first car based on the CMF-A platform.  Coming to the dimension, it measures 3,679mm long, 1,471mm wide and 1,579mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,422mm. The hatchback weighs only 660kgs, thanks to its lightweight construction and all-aluminum compact engine. With crossover-like stances and class-leading ground clearance, the Kwid looks more contemporary than its rivals.

Talking about features, the car comes equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity (first-in-segment),  digital instrument cluster, chrome air vents, power windows, optional drive airbag, etc. It offers a generous cabin space, and the best-in-class boot space of 300-litres.

The Renault Kwid will be manufactured with 98% of localization at the company’s Chennai facility. Expected to be priced between Rs. 3 lakh – Rs. 4.5 lakh, the Kwid will face competition from the cars like Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon.
