Mahindra & Mahindra that recently launched the TUV300, is now gearing up to bring-in an all-new sub-compact SUV – the S101 (codename) – that is reportedly to be named KUV100. Earlier it was rumored to be called the CUV100 or the XUV100, but the leaked official logo for the upcoming micro SUV reveal that it will be named KUV100. Though, the company hasn’t said anything about the vehicle yet.

The Mahindra KUV100 will be powered by an all-new engine lineup – a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.2-litre diesel – that has been jointly developed by Mahindra and Ssangyong. Transmitting power to the front wheels of the mini SUV will be a five-speed manual and an optional AMT (automated manual transmission) transmission. To be positioned below the TUV300, the KUV100 will come with a five-seat configuration.

As far as the features are concerned, it will be equipped with a touchscreen audio system, Scorpio-inspired steering wheel with mounted audio controls, power windows, foldable centre seat, dual airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), etc.  Based on the new monocoque chassis, the Mahindra KUV100 will share some of its styling cues with the XUV500. On the exterior, it will feature projector headlamps, curvy roofline, pronounced bonnet, 15-inch wheels, electrically operated ORVMs and wrap around rear design.

The Mahindra KUV100 will create a niche segment for itself, but it might impact the sales of the Hyundai i20 Active. This mini SUV is expected to be offered within the price range of Rs. 4.5 lakh – Rs. 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
