      The SUV segment in India got enriched with two dashing SUV models in a matter of two days. Mahindra has launched a renewed version of their highly popular Scorpio and on the other hand Renault has introduced an all-new Duster. The Scorpio have been a people’s choice right from its inception. A few minor updates and innovations were made over the years with an engine change in 2004. However, now Mahindra has decided to take it to the next level. On the other hand, Duster has been a major success story for Renault. The new Duster AWD is all set to amaze the SUV lovers in India; so is the new Scorpio.

      When it comes to the engine, Mahindra Scorpio S10 4WD is powered by a 2179 cc mHAWK 4-cylinder turbo diesel mill, which churns out 120 PS at the rate of 4000 rpm. The maximum torque output for the car 280 Nm at a reduced 1800 to 2800 rpm. On the other hand, Renault Duster AWD uses a 1461 cc 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine, which churns out 110 PS at the rate of 4000 rpm. With a reduced 1750 rpm, the Duster is capable of generating a twisting force of 245 Nm. However, Renault Duster uses a manual six-speed transmission, whereas Mahindra Scorpio uses a five-speed manual transmission.

      Mahindra Scorpio S10 4WD has a gross weight of 2610 kilograms with a minimum turning radius of 5.4 metres. On the other hand, Renault Duster weighs lesser 1874 kilograms with a turning radius of 5.2 metres. The Duster is slightly smaller as compared to the Scorpio and is reflected by the difference in boot space. While Scorpio is capable of housing 460 litres, Duster is full at 410 litres. However, driving on uneven roads is more comfortable with Duster as it has a total ground clearance of 210 mm, which is only 181 mm in Scorpio. The fuel tank capacity of Scorpio is a gigantic 60 litres, making sure that you do not run out of gas when on a highway. For Duster, the capacity is slightly less at 50 litres with a mileage of 19.72 kilometres per litre (under ideal conditions).

      Both the SUVs have been introduced in the market with a goal to make a mark in the segment. Indian shave become more open to high performing powerful SUV models that can take on any roads. Renault Duster AWD and Mahindra Scorpio S10 4WD priced at 12.99 lakhs INR and 12.54 lakhs INR respectively, give them just that cruising power with incredible manoeuvring.
