      Renault cars in India to get pricier by 2.5 per cent

      Renault India has announced to increase the prices of its entire lineup by 2.5 per cent. The increase in price will be effective from January 1, 2015. The reason behind this announcement is the increase in cost of production.  Renault India is currently selling Duster SUV, Pulse hatchback, Scala sedan and Fluence sedan. The company will also launch a new entry level hatchback and a compact MPV in 2015.

      Commenting on the price hike, Rafael Treguer, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Renault India said, "So far we have absorbed the rising input costs, but a sustained challenging market environment has compelled us to increase our prices. The industry is eagerly looking forward to pro-business policies to reignite the automobile industry in India."

      Renault-s Alliance partner- Nissan Motor India Pvt India has also raised the prices of their vehicles by 2.5 per cent. Moreover, Datsun cars will also cost 3 per cent more in the country from the next month. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Mahindra have also raised the prices of their vehicles by two to four per cent. Due to rising input and operational costs, car manufacturers have taken the decision to increase prices of vehicles. It is expected that other car makers will soon announce to hike prices of their cars as well.
