      Porsche to commence production of Macan in 2013

      In a bid to capture the surging demand for the SUVs in the global market, the German automaker Porsche has revealed that the much awaited compact crossover SUV, Macan will make a striking entry in the year 2013. Plans are formulated to position the vehicle below the best selling mid-size SUV, Porsche Cayenne.

      The company has recently christened the SUV as Macan with the production set to be commenced from early 2013. Based on the Audi Q5platform, the SUV will be produced in four door and two door versions. Along with the platform, the brand with four rings, Audi will also provide the powerplants in two options such as the 2.0L four-cylinder engine and 3.0L V6 engine each of which is capable of producing powerful performances of 240 hp and 290 hp respectively.

      The production of Macan Turbo S that will incorporate 3.0L Twin Turbo V6 engine with a peak power delivery of 350 hp has also been streamlined for production in the next year.

      Porsche Macan will be aggressively marketed as against the established rival models such as the Range Rover Evoque, Infiniti EX35, Mercedes Benz, BMW X3GLK as wells as Audi Q5. The SUV will hit the global market in the year 2013 and is expected to be shelved at starting price of $45000.

      The increased investment incurred at the production facility of the SUV maker located at Leipzig in Germany is planned to be expanded so as to accommodate body assembly line and paint shop for the manufacturing of Porsche Macan.
