Indian automobile industry is about to witness several highly anticipated car launches in October this year. Major car manufacturers like Skoda, Hyundai, Mahindra and Tata are planning to launch new cars for Indian buyers this festive month. One of the most awaited hatchback car of the year, Hyundai Eon, is expected to launch during the second week of October. Hyundai Eon will be the first entry level hatchback that Hyundai is launching after over a decade. The last entry level hatchback from Hyundai was Hyundai Santro, which is believed to be replaced by the new compact car Hyundai Eon.

The company has not revealed an official price tag of this new hatchback; however, sources reveal that the expected price range of Hyundai Eon will be around Rs. 2.5 lacs to Rs. 3.5 lacs. The company claims to have developed the car's exterior based on Hyundai Fluidic Verna exterior design, and will compete with models like Chevrolet Spark and Maruti Suzuki Alto. Hyundai Eon will be powered with a 3-cylinder, 800cc engine and a multi-point fuel injection (MPFI) system. The company aims to fill the void created due to the absence of Maruti 800, with the soon to be launched Hyundai Eon.

Another addition to the hatchback car market in India will be the diesel version of Tata Nano. Tata Nano diesel will be powered with the world's smallest Bosch common rail direct injection (CRDi) system. The diesel version is expected to be priced around Rs. 2 lacs to Rs. 3 lacs, which is higher that its petrol equivalent. After the stupendous response received by Nano petrol version, the company is ready to launch the diesel version in October.

It is not just the hatchback segment that will be experiencing new additions this October, as Mahindra & Mahindra is expected to introduce its new Mahindra Xylo Mini in the multi utility vehicle segment. The MUV will be a smaller size version of its successful model Mahindra Xylo. The new Mahindra Mini Xylo will have the same front look as its previous version. Xylo Mini will be powered with a 1.5 litre diesel engine and will probably have a 3-cylinder engine, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission system. Specifications have been kept under covers by Mahindra but experts forecast the price range to be around Rs. 4.5 lacs to Rs. 5.5 lacs in India.

Skoda Lauretta, the luxury mid sized sedan, is expected to be launched in this month. The premium sedan will be offered in diesel as well as petrol variants to the Indian consumers. Skoda Lauretta will serve as a replacement for one of the Skoda's discontinued model, Octavia. The petrol version will be powered with 1.6 litre multi-point fuel injection engine system, whereas the diesel variant will have a 1.6 litre common rail direct injection system. Speculations are rife that Lauretta styling has been done based on two popular models, Skoda Fabia and Volkswagen Vento. The new Skoda Lauretta will be competing against sedan models like Maruti Suzuki SX4, Hyundai Verna Fluidic and Volkswagen Vento.]

Thus, with so many cashing on the festive season, customers will have a diverse range of cars to choose from.
