The manufacturing facility of the Indian unit of Ford Motor Company located in Chennai is currently dealing with the issues arising from around 450 employees who had initiated a demonstration showcasing their disagreement over the management’s recent decision that led to the loss of job of nine of their colleagues.
Over 450 employees who participated in the demonstration demanding reinstatement of the jobs of their nine colleagues were detained. The employees’ union at the unit is however, committed towards directing their efforts for producing unaffected output.
An official from the union has stated that they are expecting to have a deliberation with the company’s management so that they reconsider the matter of providing back the jobs of the terminated employees.
The termination order of the nine workers was issued by the automaker in correspondence with the violation of the code of integrity and was brought into effect after an inquiry conducted on the matter.
The local police have confirmed that the detained employees at present are being kept under custody at marriage halls situated in the nearby areas of Singaperumal Kovil and Maraimalai Nagar.
