      New XCD Bikes in India from Bajaj

      Bajaj Auto plans to launch three more models of its XCD 125cc platform bikes in India. The 100cc market segment for bikes has already been witnessing a decline and the new 125cc bikes from Bajaj would further accelerate the decline. According to the statement from Bajaj, its customers have opted for a 125cc bikes over 100cc ones in past due to its superior performance, features and fuel economy. The new sporty look and youthful image along with youthful image of Bajaj company has further lent it an added advantage.

      India's second largest two-wheeler maker, Bajaj Auto Ltd., launched its first 125cc XCD bikes in September last year. The new 125cc XCD bikes shall be built on similar platform to boost its declining sales and protect profit margins in slowing economy. The 125cc segment currently constitutes 40 percent market share in the country and is witnessing a continuous expansion in India.

      Bajaj Auto has announced 11 percent hike from same period last year in its sales of motorbikes in the current fiscal year that started in April 2008. Bajaj currently trails the market leader Hero Honda in India. It currently contributes 13 percent to the XCD 125cc segment.
