      New Volvo XC60 Launched in India

      Swedish luxury car maker Volvo has launched its brand new SUV model XC60 in India. The model will compete with Audi Q5 and BMW X5 in the domestic market. The new crossover model is powered by 2.4 litre 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine that churns out a healthy 205bhp at 4000 rpm and makes 420Nm of torque between 1500-3250 rpm. The model is a complete powerhouse mated to a six speed steptronic gearbox. It is capable of reaching the 100km/h mark in under ten seconds and is coupled with a permanent all wheel drive system with a decent ground clearance.

      “We have received healthy pre-launch bookings for the sports utility vehicle (SUV). We have also ordered a second lot of 45-50 units of the XC60, which will be imported from our manufacturing facility at Ghent in Belgium by January next year,” Paul de Voijs, managing director, Volvo Auto India.

      The XC60 is priced between the Audi Q5 available at Rs 38.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi and Mumbai) and the BMW X3 at Rs 40.5-41.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi and Mumbai). Volvo XC60 debuts in India at Rs. 39.5 lakhs Ex-showroom. The company has sold around 100 units of both the new car models in the first seven months of this financial year and expects to improve sales with the help of the XC60.
