One of India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturers TVS Motors will launch a brand new unisex gearless scooter Wego this month. “Last month we put Wego only in a small number as scooters in a few areas, this month we will be selling more numbers,” said HS Goindi, President Marketing, TVS Motor Ltd to CNBC-TV18.
TVS Motors posted a 15 percent growth in two-wheeler segment at 1,521,912 units in fiscal 2009-10 against 1,325,754 units in the previous financial year. Domestic sales grew by 25 percent to 126,669 units in March 2010 from 101,660 units in the same month last year while exports grew by 23 percent to 20,067 units against 16,340 units in March 2009.
TVS Motors competes strongly with Bajaj Auto in the Indian two-wheeler market and is currently the third largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country.
