Auto companies are also phasing out gas-guzzlers and replacing them with new more fuel efficient car models. It is already reported that Skoda Octavia, Chevrolet Tavera, M800 will not be sold in cities where new emission norms. Fiat Auto India Limited has also already announced that it will phase out Fiat Palio Style from the Indian market and will replace it with Fiat Grand Punto.

Ford Ikon model will also not be retailed now in 13 cities of India as they adopt the new emission norms. Ford has decided not to upgrade the model which is currently available in two options – 1.3 Rocam petrol engine and 1.4 Duratorc TDCi diesel engines.

“Yes, it’s true. We are not upgrading Ikon’s engines to meet BS-IV emission norms, atleast in the near term. It will be sold in BS-III compliant cities. As far as our future plans with Ikon are concerned, it’s too early to offer any comments,” said official spokesperson from Ford India.
