      New Skoda Superb expected to be launched during early 2014

      Czech Republic-based auto maker Skoda is on a path of resurgence as far as the Indian car market is concerned. After enduring a torrid time for the past couple of years and being overshadowed by Volkswagen in many ways, it is finally gaining some of the lost ground. The newly launched Octavia has managed to perform reasonably well in India, generating fairly positive responses from critics. Now, sources claim that Skoda is going to launch a new version of Superb in the first half of 2014. The updated premium sedan was unveiled by the car maker in early 2013 in major international markets. Now, after analysing situations, reports suggest that the new Superb, with modifications to the exteriors and interiors. In fact, the new sedan has been tested spotting in the country, according to Overdrive. However, nothing has been made official by the Volkswagen-group owned entity.

      The new Skoda Superb is expected to be given a major makeover as far as its appearance is concerned. Likely to feature a new and bolder looking grille, this upcoming sedan will have revised bumpers along with a changed bonnet. Many experts feel that the bonnet of new Skoda Superb could be similar to the new Octavia. One strong rumour that has been doing rounds is that the rear of the new Superb will feature a look that strongly resembles cars from Audi, another brand owned by the Volkswagen Group. There have been a few adjustments made to the positioning of the number plate. In addition, new Skoda Superb is going to feature newly designed alloy wheels and daytime running LED headlamps.

      A few changes are expected to be made in the interiors of this new sedan, which competes with the likes of Hyundai Sonata and Volkswagen Jetta. More options are likely to be given in terms of steering design. The interiors of the current version are quite impressive with fantastic equipment, Ivory Nappa leather seat upholstery and chrome packaging. The existing version comes with technologically advanced features, which are likely to come in the new model as well. New Skoda Superb is likely to be equipped with Cruise Control, dual-zone Climatronic system, electric sunroof, wet case umbrella holder, CatVision and Diffused Footwell Lighting and personal comfort settings.

      Sources claim that Skoda is expected to retain both diesel and petrol engine configurations for new Superb. It is being said that the 2.0-litre diesel engine, featuring turbocharger with self-aligning blades and high-pressure direct injection system, has been refined for better output. At present, TDI CR mill equipped Superb delivers maximum power of 138 bhp and highest torque of 320 Nm. On the other hand, petrol version of Skoda Superb is powered by a 1.8-litre engine that produces 158 bhp of output and up to 250 Nm of torque. Experts feel that although limited, new Skoda Superb could create a niche for itself due to better design.
