Suzuki is working on the fourth generation of its popular hatchback, the Swift. Test mules of the compact car have been spotted in Netherlands, Europe and are heavily camouflaged. For us Indians, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has been close on the heels of the international updates, which means, the new Swift is not too far away.

While the heavy camouflage did not reveal much about the car, the distinct shape of the hatchback seems to have been retained. The front fascia shows a large radiator grille – much like the Suzuki Splash (also known as Maruti Suzuki Ritz in India). The air dam gets aggressive aero wedges on the lower lip to add sportiness to the car. The headlamps seem to be entirely new but have not been revealed owing to the camouflage.

The profile of the Swift might change a bit but the essence of the current shape may be carried forward. One noticeable change is that the rear door handles have moved from the door panel to the C-pillar to give it a three-door look. The squatty stance is apparent from the back with the boot lid getting a prominent crease that blends with the tail lamp shape.

In the absence of interior spy shots, an informed guess would mean that the interior of the India specific car will match the standards set but the Baleno and Vitara Brezza in terms of equipment. Under the hood, you may have the same 1.2-litre VVT petrol and the 1.3-litre DDiS200 diesel engines that power the current Swift. If MSIL introduces the 1.0-litre three cylinder turbo-petrol with the Baleno this year, you might have the same engine also being offered with the Swift.
