New Ford Fiesta bookings crosses 1,000 units in less than two months

Despite carrying a comparatively higher price tag in its segment, the new age Ford Fiesta is receiving an overwhelming response from the Indian buyers. In less than two months of its launch in the Indian auto market, the company has managed to receive over 1000 bookings for the all new Ford Fiesta.

The new generation model of Ford Fiesta has been developed on the firm’s global platform and carries Ford’s futuristic design language. The car marked its debut in the country in July this year. To a surprise of many, the company is also selling the older version of Fiesta as – Ford Fiesta Classic – in the Indian market, which was earlier expected to be replaced by the newer model.

With both older and new generation version available in the Indian market, the Fiesta series of car giving a tough fight to its competitors that comprises of the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Fiat Linea, Volkswagen Vento, Maruti SX4 and Toyota Etios.

It is to be mentioned here that Ford India has planned-up to add as many as 8 new car models in its India portfolio by year 2015.

Many of these upcoming Ford cars will be rolled-out in the compact small car segment, and will be positioned below its popular hatchback Figo. While the company already has manufacturing unit in Chennai, it is coming with a new plant in Gujarat very soon
