It is not a late April fool’s Day joke but the magic sunglasses are now almost a reality. Mini has now introduced a reality concept, by the virtue of which, Mini could completely change the way of driving. The new sunglasses are set to be revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show next week. Augmented Vision has been implemented in this pair of sunglasses that brings see-through technology. This enables the user get a whole set of information without any real distraction on the road.

One of the most important factors in this aspect is the navigation, which enables detailed instructions. Apart from this fact, the handy arrows display directly on to the road ahead. This aspect, once launched on the road, will definitely boost the driving features. Another mode, which has been dubbed as “First Mile/Last Mile” shows the drivers the direction of their car whenever they are on foot. The Long Stay car parking facility at the Heathrow or to the final destination has also been launched with this pair of sunglasses.

Other features, which could be quite helpful in driving is X-Ray View that can make some parts of the vehicle invisible. This will enable manoeuvring the car in tight gaps. Also equipped is the Augmented Parking, which can project images from a rear-view camera, which has been placed in the far side of the mirror. This also avoids a run-in with the kerb.

There is also a connection between the infotainment system of the car and the Augmented Vision. It can be thus expected that the futuristic infotainment system will display the smartphone messages or play the favourite tracks.

Dr. Jörg Preißinger, project manager of Mini Augmented Vision said, "Augmented Vision gives an insight into how intelligent connectivity between a Mini car and eyewear into which relevant content is projected might work in the future. We have created an interlinked system and augmented reality eyewear that revolutionise the experience both in and outside the vehicle."
